Franklin L. Cary Camp - Mosquito Range Campsite

Mosquito Range is located on the backside of camp near the Council Ring and sleeps 45 comfortably. It has a latrine, handwashing station, fire pit, split wood, small shelter with 2 picnic tables, is surrounded by trees for a cozy feel, and vehicular access to drop gear. It has quick access across the footbridge to the dining hall.

Please note: Water is shut off on the backside of camp October 30-April 30. These dates are tentative and weather dependent! If you have questions about whether water will be turned on for your campout, please call the Ranger. Water is always available to fill jugs at the parking lot bathrooms or the main building all year round.

Camp Use Policy Back to Top

Camp Rules:

  • Park all vehicles in the provided parking lots.
  • Remember to check in AND out with the Camp Ranger or his designee.
  • No illegal drugs or alcohol on any Scout properties.
  • Open fires ONLY in provided fire rings. You cannot bring in your own firewood, so firewood will be provided for you by the camp. 
  • Conduct appropriate unit level Youth Protection Training before arrival at camp.
  • No smoking or open flames in any of the buildings.
  • Always practice TWO-DEEP Leadership, and at least one leader must be at least 21 years of age. The other must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Riding in the back of open trucks, trucks with toppers or trailers is prohibited at all times.
  • No liquid fuel.
  • No Pets.
  • No tent trenches.
  • No Firearms, weapons or fireworks on any Scout property. See special program requirements for use of rifle or archery ranges.
  • In case of an accident, please complete an incident report with the Camp Ranger.

 

VEHICLES
Please note that vehicles may not be allowed beyond the parking lot for purposes of unloading, dependent on weather, in-camp population, etc. Units should always be prepared to carry in all equipment. Standard camp policy is: No more than 1 vehicle per campsite to unload gear.

 

RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBOR
The quiet hour at camp is 11:00 PM, and all youth are expected to be in their camp area at that time. Please respect the privacy of your neighbors. Do not enter their areas unless invited.

 

SERVICE PROJECTS
Scout units using the camp are encouraged to request a service project from the Ranger at the time of arrival.

WATER
Water in the campsites is turned off from October 15th to April 15th. Water is available in central camp.


We operate by using the Scout Oath and Scout Law in all matters of policies and procedures for all groups and individuals on Sagamore Council Camp property. Any damages will be assessed by the Camp Ranger.

Check Out Procedure Back to Top

You must be checked out by the Camp Ranger.  Call the ranger when you are ready to check-out and they will make arrangements to meet with you. Becky Wellner, Camp Ranger, can be reached at 317-442-4592.

Prior to check-out your facility must be cleaned and put back in order.  All trash should be disposed of in the dumpster including the trash in the latrine.  Campsites should be clear of sticks and debris, split wood should be stacked back in the pile, and the campsite should be in the same condition or better than when your group arrived.

Cancellation must be made one week prior to scheduled arrival or fees will not be refunded or transferred.

All rentals are for the facility only and groups must clean up after each use including: trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and wiping down of all surfaces.
