General Camp Policies & Guidelines

Leadership & Youth Protection (Barriers to Abuse)

  • Two-Deep Leadership: A minimum of two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required to be present at all times during any Scouting activity or outing.
  • Female Youth Supervision: For any activity or overnight outing involving female youth, at least one of the registered adult leaders (21+) must be female.
  • Mandatory Overnight Adult Registration: In accordance with national policy, ALL adults staying overnight in connection with any Scouting activity must be currently registered with Scouting America in an adult fee-required position or as an adult program participant. They must have a cleared criminal background check and current Youth Protection Training (YPT).
    • Note: The only exception is a Cub Scout parent/legal guardian camping with their own child, who must still be accompanied by a registered leader anytime they are around other youth.
    • Registration strictly as a Merit Badge Counselor does not qualify for overnight participation.
  • One-on-One Contact: One-on-one contact between adult leaders and youth members is strictly prohibited.
  • Waterfront Safety: Units or groups utilizing water facilities and equipment must have an adult in attendance certified in Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense. All State and Federal fishing laws must be followed. There is no lifeguard on duty during off-season rentals; swim/boat at your own risk.

Vehicles & Parking

ABSOLUTELY NO DRIVING ON THE GRASS!!!

  • Speed Limit: The camp-wide speed limit is 15 mph at all times.
  • Campsite Unloading: Only two vehicles per unit are permitted in the camping area at one time to unload gear. Vehicles must remain on designated service roads and may not drive beyond the "Trailer Parking Only" signs in each campsite. Once unloaded, vehicles must immediately return to the main parking lot.
  • Parking Restrictions: Parking in campsites or along service roads is strictly prohibited. One equipment trailer may remain in the campsite, but the towing vehicle must return to the main parking lot.
  • Special Needs: Handicap parking arrangements must be coordinated in advance with the Camp Ranger.
  • Off-Road & Passenger Safety: No vehicles are permitted on the wilderness trails. Pickup truck beds are for equipment transportation only; all passengers must ride inside the cab with seatbelts fastened.

Camp Prohibitions & Restricted Items

  • Alcohol & Drugs: Alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, and illegal narcotics are absolutely prohibited on camp property. Violators will be required to leave immediately, and local authorities will be notified.

Camp Boddie: Check-In Procedures

Arrival Time & Fees: 5:00 PM Default.

  • Standard check-in begins at 5:00 PM. Arriving early requires prior approval from the Camp Ranger and will incur the following fees:

Call the Ranger Upon Arrival:Contact: Fred Small at 252-290-5785.

Ranger Fred will meet your leadership to formally check your group in, verify your unit roster for registration compliance, and personally escort you to your assigned campsite or facility.

Supplied Amenities & Renter Discretion:

  • The camp will provide hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels for the main rest stations, shower houses, and public restrooms. Because this side of camp primarily utilizes traditional outdoor campsites, renters are entirely responsible for bringing their own tents, sleeping gear, cooking equipment, and personal camping necessities.
