Camp Agawam

Camp Agawam is located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, just a short distance from State Routes 79 and 422. The 265-acre camp has a small lake suitable for fishing. There are plenty of level areas for tent camping, and for year-round campers, we have three cabins available for reservation.

 

**Non-Scouting groups must call the Council Service Center 724-287-6791 option 2 for access code in order to complete online rental registration. Please be prepared to have what actives are planned. Weddings and entire camp rentals need to call the Caretaker at 724-996-0819 for planning, tour (if needed), and access code to complete online rental registration.**

B.S.A. Use:

All rentals are required to have a security deposit in the form of a check upon check in with Ranger or Campmaster. The security deposit amount will be calculated at checkout with the reservation system. Upon satisfactory check out the check will be returned. 

If damages have been made to the facility and/or improper clean up of rental, the check will be held & cashed to offset costs of repairs or clean up. If check out is not preformed before noon of check out date, the security deposit will be forfeited. Moraine Trails Council will not be able to accommodate reservations with less than one week notice prior to the date requested.

 

Non-Scouting Use:

Certificate of Insurance naming Moraine Trails Council B.S.A. as additional insured is required for rental, the amount of liability insurance needs to be a minimum of 1 million dollars. Insurance policy needs to be turned within 14 days of the reservation.

A hold harmless agreement is required 14 days prior to reservation date.

Camping Policies

Camp Use

  • All rentals will be reviewed and may be canceled if necessary.
  • All rentals need to be paid in full at the time of reservation. If payment is not made in 3 days it will be canceled out of the system. Entire camp rentals and wedding packages must have a third of the payment at time of reservation. Entire camp/ wedding packages must be paid in full 30 days before rental or will be canceled with no refund.
  • Non-Scouting groups will need to call Council Service Center for access code to complete online rentals.
  • A copy of the camp rules must be signed by a Unit Leader at check in to camp.
  • The Ranger/Campmaster must be notified immediately of any accidents or injuries to campers or damage to property, and a written report completed.
  • No cutting of standing tress.
  • Evening quiet time is observed at 11:00PM.
  • Scouts are to observe safe scouting laws and procedures and avoid disruption, disturbance or intrusion upon other units utilizing the camp.

Unit Leadership

  • Two adult leaders (one being 21 years of age or older) must be in attendance with the unit at all times.
  • For coed camping, the unit leader must give careful consideration to the number of required adult leaders (all being 21 or older) for both male and female participants. Separate housing must be provided for both male and female participants.

Building Use

  • Dining halls may not be used for camping or sleeping quarters
  • Kitchen facilities can be used only with prior permission and proper supervision. Kitchen must be cleaned to have security deposit returned.
  • No moving bunks or equipment.
  • Buildings and grounds will be kept clean and neat.
  • No liquid fuels or pressurized gas within cabins. This regulation does not prohibit the proper use of propane stobes or lanterns.
  • Separate housing must be provided for both male and female participants.
  • All buildings are OFF Limits (other than those assigned), except with prior permission of Campmaster or Camp Ranger.
  • Fires must only be in fire circles established by Camp Ranger and attended at all times.
  • Allow fireplaces and wood burners to burn out completely. Do NOT remove ashes. Fireplaces and wood burners will be cleaned out by the Ranger after departure.

Vehicles

  • All vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas. No vehicles may go past the parking areas without permission of the Campmaster or Camp Ranger. Vehicles are not permitted off the roadways. Vehicles will be towed at owner's expense.
  • Observe the speed limit of ten (10) miles per hour and all other traffic signs while on camp property.

Conduct

  • Unit leaders are responsible for the conduct and actions of the scouts while at camp.
  • Firearms, fireworks, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances (drugs), and gambling.
  • Pets are not permitted in camp unless prior approval is obtained by the Camp Ranger. All approved pets must be leashed. Service dogs are permitted.
  • Use of the latrines is mandatory.
  • Do not dispose of garbage, wood, rocks, etc. in latrines.
Check In Procedure Back to Top
  1. Immediately upon entering camp property, stop in to see the Campmaster or Camp Ranger. At this time, you will be given any additional information concerning camp.
  2. Camp rules will be reviewed. Units must sign a copy of the camp rules showing they understand the rules and agree to follow them while on camp property.
  3. A check written out to Moraine Trails Council will be collected upon arrival as a security deposit. The check total is $100.00 for all building rentals and $200.00 for wedding packages.
Check Out Procedure Back to Top
  1. Buildings and/or sites are to be cleaned before the unit/group checks out.
  2. Camper’s will replenish the twelve (12) hour supply of wood, suitable for starting a fire. (For wood stove heated cabins only)
  3. Dispose of all trash properly. Trash is to be taken from the camp or removed to the dumpster on site.
  4. The Campmaster or Camp Ranger will check out your cabin or site before you leave.
  5. Upon satisfactory checkout the security deposit will be returned to the unit leader or renter.

All rentals:

Cancellation must be made two weeks (14 days) in advance for refund or transfer. Requests after the event or for no-shows will not be considered. 

 

Entire Camp and Wedding Packages only:

Cancellation must be made 1 month (30 days) in advance for refund.
