Hafer Lodge (#10) has bunk beds, a large room for sleeping and program and a separate kitchen.  There is a fire circle outside and a wood stove inside for heat.  This lodge does not have running water.   The closest water is located right across the road at the Administration Building (#20).  The closest bathroom is located at Reary Pool (#36). There is room to park your trailer at the lodge.  Check out the amenities tab for more information.

Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation is owned and operated by the Hawk Mountain Scout Council, Boy Scouts of America.

It is administered by a full-time Camp Director and Ranger trained and certified by the National Camping School of the Boy Scouts of America.  The camp is supervised by the Council Executive Board.

Essential Youth Protection Guidelines

  • Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation and the Hawk Mountain Scout Council adhere to all Youth Protection guidelines of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • The responsibility for caring for your campers at camp is a 24-hour-a-day duty.
  • All adults must be current members with all their background checks and Youth Protection Training.
  • All adults must follow all the Guidelines to Safe Scouting.

Environmental Statement

  • The Boy Scouts of America fosters environmental respect and “Leave No Trace”.  All Scouts and Leaders are charged to protect and nurture our environment, especially when at camp.
  • Help us keep your camp clean by:
    • Recycling – Reduce the use of all paper, Styrofoam, and plastic.  Reuse containers and recycle.  Dispose of your trash appropriately and take home your recycling.
    • Low Impact Camping – Be gentle to your campsite and surrounding area.  Always stay on established paths.  Don’t cut, remove, trample or damage any plants or trees.  Never build any new fire rings anywhere.
    • Follow the Outdoor Code always. As an American, I will do my best to:
      • Be clean in my outdoor manners
      • Be careful with fire
      • Be considerate in the outdoors
      • Be conservation-minded

Alcohol and Illegal Drugs

  • These items are strictly prohibited.  Violators will be asked to leave and/or prosecuted.

Bullying and Hazing

  • Initiations, hazing, or bullying of any type are in violation of the BSA Youth Protection policies and is cause for removal of Scouts or leaders from camp.

Facilities

  • The established sleeping capacity of buildings is not to be exceeded. 
  • All buildings, furnishings, and equipment will be left in as good or better condition than when you arrived.
  • Bunks, furniture, tables, etc… are to be returned to their original locations if moved.
  • No alterations are allowed, to any buildings or grounds.
  • Donations of equipment or furniture should be approved prior.
Check In Procedure Back to Top
  • When arriving at camp the troop leader must check-in at the Welcome Center before proceeding to the campsite.
  • Check-in starts at 6:00 pm.  If you are arriving at an earlier time, please coordinate that in advance with the Council Program Director.
  • You must turn in a roster at the Welcome Center at check-in.
  • You will get a check-out time for departure when you check-in at the Welcome Center.

  • You will get a check-out time for departure when you check-in at the Welcome Center.
  • For departure, you must check out with the Camp Master or Camp Ranger.  Your site will be inspected before you leave.  If you do not check out your $50 deposit will not be refunded.
Cancellation Policy Back to Top
  • Cancellation of reservations 45 days or more prior to the scheduled date will receive a full refund. All refund requests must be made in writing to the Council Program Director. Mail to: HMC, 5027 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA 19605, or email to: Michele Bement at michele.bement@scouting.org.
  • Cancellations made 21 days to 44 days prior to the scheduled date may transfer fees to another reservation but will not be eligible for a refund. Transfers must be coordinated with the Council Program Director within 30 days of notification of the cancellation.
  • Cancellations made 14 days to 20 days prior to the scheduled date may transfer 50% of the fees paid to another reservation but will not be eligible for a refund. Transfers must be coordinated with the Council Program Director within 30 days of notification of the cancellation.
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the scheduled date, or "no-show" units, will forfeit ALL fees paid.
