Those persons using camping facilities can help to preserve the property and Scouting's favorable image by observing the points listed.

LEADERSHIP FOR HIKING AND CAMPING - All Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring groups using our facilities must be supervised by at least two Youth Protection Trained and registered adults, 21 years of age or older who are in attendance full time.
Co-ed units must also have at least one Youth Protection Trained and registered adult female leader 21 years old or older.
A minimum of 2 youth members and 2 leaders are required for any Scouting activity.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT - All units must check in and out of camp with either the Camp Ranger or Campmaster on duty, and fill in the attendance sheet, which is part of the check-in form. A weekend is considered to start at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and end by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

FIRES - Build fires in existing fire pits and put out all fires with water. Do not dig holes or create new burn locations for fires. 

WOOD - Use only dead wood for fires. Do not cut down any trees. Chainsaw use is prohibited.

GARBAGE - TIN CANS, TRASH - bag all garbage and bring to dumpsters located east of the dining hall by the Staff Row site entrance. Do not burn any refuse.

MOTOR VEHICLES - Motor vehicles are to be parked in the areas provided - either the main parking lot or the overflow parking lot located just west of the main entrance to camp. The speed limit is 5 miles per hour. Vehicles/Trailers are not to be driven to the campsite WITHOUT authorization of the Camp Ranger or Campmaster the day of check in. You must check in at the Camp Office BEFORE proceeding to your campsite.

Violators will be asked to leave the property.

CAMP BOUNDARIES - All persons at our camp are expected to respect our neighbors and stay within the camp's boundaries.

GUESTS - Any arrangements for guests must be approved in advance and noted on your reservation. Guests and visitors must sign in and out of the visitor logbook at the Camp Office.

CAMP ENTRANCE GATES - Will be locked from Sunday at 12 p.m. to Friday at 5 p.m.

WATERCRAFT - Persons using watercraft are subject to the Boy Scouts of America Safety Afloat rules. Before making any plans to use either Council canoes or your own boat, contact the Council Office. Watercraft use is restricted to daylight hours. Use of personal watercraft must be approved in advance. Privately owned gas motors are not allowed.

FISHING - Fishing is available to registered members of our council when their stay in camp is directly related to a unit or district outdoor event involving Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturers, or Explorers. Fishing may NOT be done at the aquatics swimming area. There must be as many Scouts as leaders on fishing trips. All fishing must be done in accordance with the current regulations of the Illinois Conservation Commissions. The use of live minnows for bait is prohibited on Council owned lakes. All fishing participants between the ages of 16 and 65 must possess a current Illinois State Fishing License.

DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT, CAMPSITES, AND FACILITIES - All equipment, campsites, facilities, and cabins used by a unit will be inspected by the unit leader and Camp Ranger or Campmaster before being occupied or used. Any damages that occur are to be paid for when checking out. This includes defacing equipment and buildings, discharging fire extinguishers, destroying or defacing trees, etc.

SHOOTING SPORTS - Qualified instructors must supervise all use of shooting ranges. Contact the Council Office to confirm Rainbow Council Shooting Sports availability. (815-942-4450 ext. 908)

COPE & CLIMBING - Qualified instructors must supervise all use of the Climbing Tower, High COPE, Zip Line, and Low COPE areas. Contact the Council Office to confirm Rainbow Council COPE & Climbing instructor availability. (815-942-4450 ext. 908)

PRESSURIZED FUEL - Leaders must follow the polices set forth in the Guide to Safe Scouting regarding the use of chemical fuels and equipment. 

SWIMMING - Swimming is permitted in the designated aquatics swimming area. Units are responsible for providing trained supervision as described in BSA Safe Swim Defense. 

We reserve the right to refuse property access at the council's discretion.

For unit weekend camping events, please check in at the Camp Office with the Camp Ranger or Campmaster on duty BEFORE proceeding to your campsite. At check in you will provide the final headcount for your unit to complete the per person payment. You will receive a copy of the camp rules, the camp map, and directions to your campsite based on current conditions of the property.

For all other activities, follow the instructions provided in the event guide.

Before your unit checks out from your weekend camping activity, please make sure your campsite is left better than you found it: 

Kybos are free of trash and swept clean.

Garbage cans are emptied and trash taken to the dumpsters located on the east side of the Dining Hall.

Unit performs a 'patrol line' sweep of the site for any trash, scraps, and/or tent stakes left behind. 

Fire pit is 'cold out', thoroughly watered, with no garbage such as tin cans or food present.

Garbage bags may be requested at the Camp Office if needed.

Check out at the Camp Office to complete the Check Out procedure with the Camp Ranger or Campmaster on duty.

It's the Scout LAW! A Scout is CLEAN! We also practice LEAVE NO TRACE.

Garbage bags and toilet paper may be requested from the Camp Ranger or Campmaster at the Camp Office.

Site kybos must be free of trash and swept clean.

Unit performs a 'patrol line' sweep of the site for any trash, scraps, and/or tent stakes left behind.

Fire pit is 'cold out'. Thoroughly watered with no garbage such as tin cans or food remaining.

Site garbage cans must be emptied and garbage taken to the camp dumpsters located between the Dining Hall and Staff Row site.
