Akridge Scout Reservation - Maple Campsite

General Campsite Information:

  • Primitive camping only at this point (just bare sites)
  • Firewood is available, please only used dead or downed wood
  • 1 established fire pit in each site
  • Do not build new ground fire pits or move existing fire pit
  • Restroom located in activity lodge (3 individual restrooms accessible from pond side of building)
  • No showers available

Please review carefully as each item may contain different policies, additional purchase terms and any applicable cancellation fees.

Units will be asked for:  a Roster of Attendees with ages and a Camp Program Agenda for the weekend.


Insurance: Unit accident insurance is required from all units. This is an excess benefits policy that works in conjunction with family medical insurance.  Local hospitals will require insurance company name, policy number, and expiration date in the event of an emergency.  Del-Mar-Va council is not responsible for medical expenses incurred while at camp. Do not send medical bills to the council or the camp.  Del-Mar-Va Council cannot complete the form or submit the claim for you.  Having bills sent to the office will not result in payment, and will cause delays in getting them paid.  If you have any questions regarding accident and sickness insurance, contact your insurance carrier or local council.

Age Limits: No children younger than Scouts BSA age are to attend camp with a Troop unless they are Webelos attending a parent/son activity.  They will be sent home.  Youth members may only participate in age-appropriate activities. 

Cub Scout and Webelos Camping: Cub Scouts and Webelos may participate in Pack Family camping and Cub/Parent type weekends, and must have a parent or guardian in attendance at all times.   Cub Scout Packs/Dens must have at least one adult who has completed Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) in attendance.  Webelos Dens are encouraged to have several one or two-night camping experiences. All Cub Scout and Webelos camping activities should occur as parent/Scout activities. Outdoor tent camping is permitted for Cub Scouts and Webelos between April 15 and November 1 each year.

Two Deep Leadership is required on all trips and outings. At least 2 registered, trained, adults must attend with each unit. One of the adults must be at least 21 years of age. It is highly recommended that all adults in attendance complete the Youth Protection Training program at 

Separate facilities, i.e. a separate rooms or tents, are required for males/females and youth/adults participating in an overnight activity.  Leaders responsible for the group must be registered members of the BSA and remain with the unit the entire time the unit is in camp.

Vehicles: Depending on road conditions, at the discretion of the Camp Ranger, all service roads may be closed.  In the event of heavy snow or ice, the service roads may be closed.  In those cases, transporting equipment will have to be done by sled or other manual means.  If the roads are open, only ONE vehicle may remain at the site for emergency use.  The vehicle is not to be used for anything other than an emergency.  All other vehicles are to be parked in a designated parking area.  Trucks larger than a pick-up, including buses and RV's, are not allowed on the service roads.  All wheeled sleeping/camping type vehicles and trailers are restricted from use as housing at both camps.  No persons may be transported to any location in the vehicle other than where a seatbelt has been provided by the manufacturer of the vehicle.  This includes any type of wheeled vehicle or trailer.

Prohibited Items: The following items are prohibited in camp.  Violators will be asked to leave.
Alcoholic Beverages, Firearms/Fireworks, Electric or Kerosene Heaters, Sheath Knives, Pets (other than service animals), Drugs (other than labeled prescription or non-prescription medications), and Chainsaws (permitted only with proof of BSA Chainsaw Safety training certificate and permission of the Camp Ranger). 

Shooting Ranges: The ranges may be available to rent for individual Troop use. Rifle: You must provide one NRA Certified Instructor for each 8 firing positions AND a NRA Range Safety Officer.  Current certifications must be presented to the Outdoor Programs Department 30 days before your camp date and again to the Campmaster at the time of range use.  You must use camp rifles and ammunition. Shotgun: You must provide one NRA Certified Instructor for each firing position AND a NRA Range Safety Officer.  Current certifications must be presented to the Outdoor Programs Department 30 days before your camp date and again to the Campmaster at the time of range use.  You must use camp shotguns and ammunition. Webelos and Cub Scouts may not participate.

Check In Procedure Back to Top

Check-in begins at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Units will check in with the Campmaster at the Administration Building before heading to their campsite.


Units will be asked for the following information: 

• a roster of attendees and the age of each

• the camp program agenda for their weekend stay

• the cell phone number of an adult leader in camp

Check Out Procedure Back to Top

On Friday night the unit is asked to give the time they are going to check out on Sunday when they plan on leaving camp.

If the unit wants to check out earlier they can contact the campmaster and see if arrangements can be made.

At least one (1) adult leader must remain in the site until a campmaster or ranger staff release them.

All trash must be taken to the dumpster.

All gear must be removed from the site before check out.

The grounds must be completely cleaned and the area policed before the unit checks out.

All outdoor fires must be completely out and cold.

Cancellation Policy Back to Top

Cancellation Policy:

Applies to Offline Payments, Visa, MasterCard There will be no refunds for cancellations within 2 weeks of camp date. Arrangements made to transfer fees already paid to another weekend can be made ONLY if the Outdoor Program office is notified in writing 2 weeks in advance of camp date. If you choose not to attend camp within 2 weeks of your camp date, there will be no refund or transfer regardless of the reason. If it is necessary to close the camp due to inclement weather you will be notified.
