Nobscot Scout Reservation - Canopache Adirondacks (Lean-tos only)

Canopache Adirondacks – provides a fantastic adirondack and tenting experience at a modest distance from the parking lot. Canopache has two great adirondacks plus one of the best tenting experiences at Nobscot. This site has capacity for tenting around the adirondack area and in the surrounding woods. Larger groups can separately reserve the adjacent Big Rock tent site to provide capacity for a total of about 100.

Directions: To get to this site, take Belden’s Way to Pond Trail. Take a right on Gen. John Nixon Trail.  Pass Big Rock. Canopache is in the woods on the right.

About: Canopache Adirondacks

Audience: IDEAL for INTERMEDIATE Campers
Canopache offers two full-sized shelters plus  tenting in a flat area in the woods.

GPS Location & Distance: Canopache is at: 35048, -71.4399
Distance: 0.37 miles – carry in/carry out. Canopache is one of the closest tenting sites at Nobscot to the parking lot.

Capacity: The Canopache shelters have a capacity of about 16 (8+8). The site allows for another 15 scouts in tents.
Reserve the adjacent Big Rock tent site can add Scouts in tents.

Features: Canopache has 2 picnic tables and a Fire Ring (with cooking grate).

Water/Latrines: Canopache is convenient to latrines and very convenient to water. Nearest latrine is at Pond View or Webelos Woods. Nearest water pump is Owl Trail.

Feel: The Canopache adirondacks provide an outstanding wilderness feel, yet are very accessible. It has two full-size adirondacks. When combined with the adjacent Big Rock tent site, it provides one of the best tenting experiences at Nobscot.

Path: The path to the Canopache Adirondacks is a short walk from the parking lot over slightly sloped terrain, making it easy to pull a cart of equipment. Backpacking is always encouraged at Nobscot!
