Nobscot Scout Reservation - Tantamous Hill Adirondacks

Tantamous Hill Adirondacks – provides a fantastic remote adirondack and tenting experience for experienced campers, who like to hike in and pack sensibly.

Directions: To get to this site, take Ellisland Trail to Fire Trail. Tantamous is a modest hike up Fire Trail in the woods on the left.

About: Tantamous Hill Adirondacks

Audience: ADVENTURES for ADVANCED Campers
Tantamous Hill Adirondacks offers two full-sized shelters and an excellent remote wilderness experience in the woods.

GPS Location & Distance: Tantamous Hill Adirondacks is at: 34558, -71.44327
Distance: 0.4 miles – carry in/carry out.
Tantamous Hill Adirondacks provides a remote wilderness experience and is the farthest adirondack site from the parking lot.

Capacity: The Tantamous Hill Adirondacks have a capacity of 16 (8+8).
Immediately surrounding the adirondacks is a flat area for a small group of 8+ to tent.

Features: Tantamous Hill Adirondacks has 2 picnic tables an outdoor chimney and a Fire Ring (with cooking grate).

Water/Latrines: Water and Latrines are about 1/8 mile away. Nearest latrine is on south leg of Jethro Trail (via path through the woods). Nearest water pump is on north leg of Jethro Trail (different path through the woods).

Feel: The Tantamous Hill Adirondacks has an outstanding wilderness feel. As compared to other Adirondack sites, Tantamous Hill has more limited room for nearby tenting.

Path: The path to this site is mostly steeply-sloped with some very steep sections – making it ill-advised to try to pull a cart of equipment. If you expect to use a garden cart to bring in your equipment, pick another site.
Backpacking is always encouraged at Nobscot!
