Nobscot Scout Reservation - Peabody Adirondacks

Peabody Adirondacks – is one of the closest sites at Nobscot to the parking lot, while having more amenities than any other adirondack site.

Directions: To get to the Peabody site, take Belden’s Way to Legion Trail. After a very short walk on Legion and just after passing Webelos Woods cabin, take a left into the site.

About: Peabody Adirondacks

Audience: NICE for NOVICE Campers
Peabody is a very large site with two smaller Adirondacks, a large covered picnic area, lots of room for tenting – all adjacent to a large field for activities or more tenting.

GPS Location & Distance: Peabody Adirondacks is at: 34813, -71.44084
Distance: 0.23 miles – carry in/carry out.
Peabody Adirondacks is one of the closest sites at Nobscot to the parking lot.

Capacity: The Peabody Adirondacks have a capacity of 8 (4+4)
The terrain nearby the Adirondacks is flat and can accommodate 25 Scouts in tents.

Features: Peabody Adirondacks have 4 picnic tables (two under a covered roof), one Fire ring near Adirondacks and one Fire pit in the field.

Water/Latrines: Peabody is very convenient to both latrines and water. Nearest latrine is just outside of site at Webelos Woods. Nearest water pump is at start of Nipmuc Trail.

Feel: Great combination of ‘in-the-woods’ feel plus a field for activities; considered by some to be the best tenting experience at Nobscot for less-experienced campers.

Path: The trail to Peabody is a short walk from the parking lot over mostly slightly-sloped terrain, making it relatively easy to pull a cart of equipment. Backpacking is always encouraged at Nobscot!

Deciding on Peabody Adirondacks vs. Canopache Adirondacks? Both are awesome. Canopache has more capacity in the adirondacks then Peabody (16 vs. 8). Canopache on its own has less tenting capacity then Peabody if reserved with the adjacent Big Rock tent site. Canopache has more of a forest feel, while Peabody has nice woods plus a great open field. Canopache is a longer and a little steeper hike in. Peabody has more picnic tables and two are covered. Peabody has a closer latrine. Both have convenient water and are excellent adirondack and tenting sites.
