Hide Away Adirondack – is an excellent (mostly) tenting site, close to the parking lot, but not particularly convenient to latrines or water pumps.
Directions: To get to this hidden site, go left on Ellisland Trail at the intersection with Monson Trail. Stay on Ellisland Trail for another 100 to 200 yards and the side-trail to Hide Away is up in the woods on your right.
About: Hide Away Adirondack
Audience: ADVENTURES for ADVANCED Campers. Hide Away offers a small adirondack with lots of excellent tenting in the woods for experienced campers.
GPS Location & Distance: Hide Away is at: 42.346306, -71.441159
Distance: 0.245 miles – carry in/carry out.
Hide Away is one of the closest tenting sites at Nobscot to the parking lot.
Capacity: The Hide Away shelter has a capacity of about 4 campers. The site allows for another 15-20 scouts in tents.
Features: Hide Away has 2 picnic tables and a Fire pit.
Water/Latrines: Hide Away is not as convenient to latrines and water as many tent sites or any of the other adirondack sites. Nearest latrine is off parking lot. Nearest water pump is up Monsen Trail to Jethro Trail.
Feel: The shelter at this little-known site was completely rebuilt in 2020 and has an outstanding wilderness feel.
Path: The path to this site is mostly moderately-sloped with some steep sections – making it very difficult to pull a cart of equipment. Backpacking is always encouraged at Nobscot!
