About: Cabin 16 (18)

Sleeps: 10

Layout/Adult Room: Attractive, large bunk room plus separate, large food prep area. Converting food prep area into separate adult bunk room under consideration.

Audience: IDEAL for INTERMEDIATE Scouts
Good for troops who prefer a shorter hike over some steep terrain than a longer walk over flat terrain to get to a great wilderness cabin on a ridge.

GPS Location & Distance: Cabin 16 (18) is at: 34781, -71.44542
Distance: 0.485 miles (all uphill) – carry in/carry out.

Tenting Capacity: Surrounding cabin: Very few scouts in tents. Very hilly area would make tenting challenging.

Modern amenities: no electricity, no water, no indoor plumbing,

Interior Features: Wood paneled cabin with fireplace, cookstove, bunks with mattresses, separate food prep area.

Exterior Features: 1 picnic table, 1 Fire Pit, fantastic covered porch.

Water/Latrines: Cabin is not particularly convenient to latrines or water. Nearest water and latrine are near Jethro Trail Adirondacks. Nearby small outbuilding is not a working latrine.

Feel: With a White Ridge Trail location, Cabin has a great wilderness feel and great views from a large porch (with a bench) of the forest below. In addition to an indoor fireplace, there is a Cookstove.

Path: The trail to Cabin 16 (18), travels over some very hilly terrain, making it a truly unpleasant effort if pulling a large cart of equipment.
Backpacking is always encouraged at Nobscot!

Directions: To get to Cabin 16 (18), take Monsen Trail almost to the end. Shortly before the end of Monsen Trail, you will see a path on the left through the woods to the cabin. Alternatively, you can continue on Monsen Trail to the end and take a left on White Ridge Trail. Cabin is on left, just before the extremely step section of trail.

If you pull a garden cart up to this site (and you should not), please return it quickly to the shed for others to use – and pack more sensibly next time.
