If your group is already camping at Camp Friedlander or has other facilities reserved on the day you plan to use the frisbee golf course, you do not need to make a separate frisbee golf reservation. This reservation option is only for groups who plan to come to camp just for the day to use the frisbee golf course. It helps our rangers and volunteer Campmasters know which groups to expect around camp each weekend.
Units / Groups are asked to use their own frisbees and/ or discs to utilize the frisbee colf course.
We ask that you leave the facilities and grounds in better condition than you found them. Please empty trash cans to the nearest dumpster and replace any trash bags necessary. Any restroom and shower facilities that you used should be cleaned as well. Groups that do not leave their area(s) in an acceptable condition may be charged a cleaning fee up to (or equal to) the cost to reserve that facility for one day.
Camp Usage Guidelines
Check-In: On weekends, check-in for overnight reservations starts on FRIDAY at 5PM. Check in for day use facilities starts at 8AM. Upon arrival at camp, please have your updated roster of attendees along with confirmations of your site and equipment rentals. Then contact your Campmaster at (513) 831-8311 to start your check-in process. Your Campmaster will direct you to your site and will be available during the weekend for assistance.
Check-Out: Work with your Campmaster to arrange the check-out time for your group. For overnight reservations, check out must happen before 2PM on your check-out day. For day use reservations, check out must happen by 10PM. A Scout is Clean. We ask that you leave the facilities and grounds in better condition than you found them. This includes common areas such as shower-houses, KYBOs and fire rings. Notify your Campmaster of any damage or maintenance concerns. Please contact your Campmaster for resupply of soap/paper products/trash bags. Your Campmaster can also show you the location of your nearest dumpster to dispose of all garbage and recycling. A cleaning fee will be assessed if the area needs to be cleaned after your group leaves. If your area is not clean upon arrival, contact the Campmaster.
Equipment & Supplies: Campmasters can issue tools and equipment upon request, be sure to ask for options of basic gear. Thanks for returning all equipment/tools to their original locations. If uncertain of the correct home for gear, please ask.
Firewood and Campfires: Thanks for building your fires in designated campfire rings and nowhere else. All Council Camps are ‘deadfall usage’ properties: please gather any tinder/limbs near your campsite and surrounding wooded areas. We appreciate your help in preventing the spread of harmful pest insects by NOT bringing ‘from home’ firewood onto camp property. Any purchased firewood must be kiln-dried and obtained from a reputable source. Kroger, UDF, and other vendors near camp offer appropriate firewood bundles for purchase. Leftover firewood should be stacked inside the tree line to facilitate mowing. Chainsaw use is not allowed.
Restrooms & Showers: From mid-October to mid-April, the shower houses at all camps will be winterized and unavailable for use. The shower houses on Camp Friedlander and Cub World staff rows are open in the winter for those groups reserving cabins. Green potable water spigots (Murdocks) and non-flushing latrines (KYBOs) are available year-round. Camp Craig’s only access to showers comes with reservation of the Program Building.
Tents: After summer camp season, we take the canvas tents down in all campsites. Don’t forget to bring your own tents! Or consider reserving Camp Craig’s Program Building; the Castle, Fort, or staff cabins at Cub World; the yurts at Camp Michaels; or our treehouse campsites and staff cabins at Camp Friedlander. There may be a rental fee for these facilities.
Vehicle Use: Upon arrival, be careful not to block the entrance gate to the camps. We allow each group to drop off trailers, gear and/or large equipment. One vehicle, hooked up to a trailer, can remain in camp at your campsite. It is to remain at your campsite throughout your reservation and should only be used for emergency purposes. This vehicle and trailer may not block the roadway. If the roadway is blocked, you will be asked to move your vehicle and trailer. The Campmaster will open the gate as soon as convenient. Please contact the Campmaster for any personal concerns regarding mobility needs or disabilities. Personal gear should be brought into camp by using the available pull-carts, which should be returned promptly so that other groups may make use of them. Ask the Campmaster for cart locations and return all carts immediately after emptying them at your site. A Scout is Courteous.
Program Instructors: All Shooting Sports, Aquatics, and COPE/Climbing events require current and valid documentation of Scouting-Approved certification. These activities must be planned in advance.
Maintenance or Supply Needs: See something at camp or one of our Scout properties that needs some love and care? Help to make us aware of the items you see so that we can keep the property in tip-top shape for all guests. Please go to https://danbeard.org/fix/ To report an issue.
Emergencies or Scout Safety issues: Emergency information and Council/camp points of contact are posted throughout the camps, to include nearest urgent care, hospitals, and Scouts First Help line information.
STUCK VEHICLES/EQUIPMENT: Camp is not responsible for pulling out stuck vehicles/equipment. It is the responsibility of your group to facilitate getting your equipment unstuck. Let the Campmaster know that someone is coming so they are prepared to let them on camp and can direct them to your location. Local businesses that can assist can be found via an online search.
IMPORTANT: Call 911 for all medical and fire emergencies. Immediately notify your Campmaster to aid responder personnel with camp access. Notify your Campmaster about all medical, fire, flood, power outages, etc.
AEDs: There are 4 AEDs located throughout the Dan Beard Scout Reservation.
- Camp Friedlander: Outside of the Health Lodge and Outside of the Rifle Range
- Camp Craig: Outside of the Pool House
- Cub World: On the wall of the Big Boy Pavilion closest to the driveway
**Fireworks, firearms, pets, nicotine products, controlled substances, and alcoholic beverages should not be brought onto Camp Property.
**The Guide to Safe Scouting (https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/) applies to EVERY group, event, and activity.
