Musser Scout Reservation - Canoe Package Rental

Weekend Rental -  1 trailer holding 6 canoes. Trailer has a 2" hitch connection and 4 wire flat harness. The trailer will have 12 PDF's and 12 paddles. If you need more, please let the staff know at the time of pickup. Canoes are for offsite use only.

Rental is only from April 1st until June 1st and then Sept, after Labor Day until Nov 1st.  If the water temperature is below 60 degrees please consider rescheduling the trip. To read more go here - https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss02/

One leader with the group must have Safety Afloat Training.  All adults must be certified as a "swimmer" in the BSA swim test. 

All scouts must be a minimum of 11 years of age, and be certified a "swimmer" in the BSA swim test. 

Pick up time must be pre-arranged with the camp.

Short Term Canoe Package Rental – Off Property Use Only

This rental is for one (1) six (6) canoe trailer with six (6) two (2) person canoes, twelve (12) canoe paddles and twelve (12) adult PFD devices. 

Note: Towing information –  Trailers have 2 inch ball hitch and 4 wire flat harness 

We understand the following policies must be followed:

 1.    Aquatics Safety (Guide to Safe Scouting) has been reviewed https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss02/
 2.    Canoe users must be “swimmers” and at least 11 years old. (Scouting America Troops, Venturing Crews, Ships)
 3.    Life vests must be worn at all times while in the canoe.
 4.    Vehicles towing canoe trailers must be equipped with adequate trailer hitches to fit 2" socket.  Brakes must be adequate and vehicles equipped with light hook ups.
 5.    Units will be responsible for canoes and equipment lost or damaged and cover the cost of replacement. Equipment too damaged to be repaired (determined by camp ranger) will become the property of the unit, and unit pays replacement cost.
 6.    Canoes may not be used in waters colder than 50 degrees.
 7.    Trip Leader must have completed Safety Afloat training and enforce the safe boating rules and regulations.
 8.    Canoes will only be used during daylight hours.
 9.    On river trips one person in each canoe must be an experienced canoeist (canoeing merit badge, red cross canoeing, etc.)
10.   Do not canoe on waters with which you're not familiar.
11.   A trip plan must be uploaded at registration time and a roster will be supplied to the camp ranger at the time of canoe pickup.

Additional specific information will be provided to unit in the welcome email PRIOR to arrival. 

 

CHECK-IN:

ARRIVAL:

  • Friday night/ Saturday
  • Begins Friday at 6:00 pm 

RANGER WILL PROVIDE THE CHECK-IN LOCATION IN THE WEEKLY EMAIL PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL. 

Check out of site by 11 am on Sunday unless authorized by Ranger.

 

WATER:  

  • Camp Garrison has water in all the features, April – October ONLY.
  • Camp Hart has water in the sites. 

 

TRADING POST:

  • Availability and hours announced in weekly email.

 

RANGES: 

If you are planning to use any of the ranges, you will need to: 

  • Reserve through the council office. 
  • The person/people running the range need to show certifications to Ranger or Campmaster on property.
  • Have the Range Activity SAFEty Training certification if it applies to your unit. 

 

BOULDERING WALL: 

If you are planning to use either of the bouldering walls, you will need to: 

  • Reserve through the council office. 
  • The person/people running the bouldering wall need to show certifications Ranger or Campmaster on property.

 

BOATING ON PROPERTY:

  • ONLY allowed if there is an Aquatics Director overseeing the event.
  • The Aquatics Director has a CURRENT National Camp School certification.

CHECK-OUT:

  1. Contact campmaster if they are not at your site when you scheduled.

  2. The campmaster will be checking site or cabin for:

  • Anything left behind

  • Cleanliness: cabin swept out, kitchen cleaned, bathroom/latrine cleaned, and trash picked up.

Camp Facility Rental Cancellation Policy

We recognize that plans change for units who have reserved a cabin or campsite at Musser or Resica Falls, so the Camping & Properties Committee has enacted the following cancellation policy to determine what amount of refund is available if you need to cancel your reservation.


Cancellations More Than 60 Days Prior to Rental
Units who cancel a facility reservation more than 60 days prior to your reservation will receive a full refund or full credit to be used for a future facility rental.

Cancellations 60-30 days Prior to Rental
Any cancellations made between 60 and 30 days prior to your reservation will receive a refund or credit for 50% of your rental fees, unless the facility is re-booked.**
Cancellations Within 30 Days Prior to Rental
Any cancellations within 30 days of your stay are not eligible for a refund unless the facility is re-booked.**
**If the facility is re-booked, a full refund or credit will be given.
Weather Considerations
In the event camp must be closed due to inclement weather, a full refund will be issued.
If camp is open and the unit decides to cancel due to weather, the above refund policy will be in-place.
