Rules and Regulations

  1. The rental group agrees that the group will abide by all the Rules and Regulations for Use of Scout Properties and instructions of the Camp Ranger and/or a designated camp/local council management team member.
  2. The rental group agrees to provide at least one adult leader (defined as 21 years of age or older) for every ten (10) members of its group below the age of 21 years; at least one of the said leaders must be present with the group at all times while at the facilities or in camp.
  3. While Scouting makes every effort to accommodate all persons with disabilities, the Boy Scouts of America is a charitable, private organization not subject to the ADA, and any group who uses the facilities or camps is responsible for ADA compliance and any accommodations necessary for its participants and attendees.
  4. The local council Scout Executive (hereby referred to as the "Scout Executive") or his/her designee is responsible for granting permission to use local council property, for the rules and regulations governing such use, and for the rental charges to be paid. Local council property will be rented for other than Scouting purposes only when there is no interference with Scouting activities.
  5. Application for use of council facilities is to be made to the Scout service center. Payment will be made to the local council at least one week in advance; otherwise the use may be cancelled at the discretion of the Scout Executive or his/her designee. In addition, if there is any reason to believe that the use may involve damage beyond that of ordinary wear and tear, the Scout Executive may require advance payment against loss. The Scout Executive also reserves the right to revoke the reservation for cause.
  6. The Application for Non-Scout Use of Council Property must be filled out and submitted to the Scout service center prior to the date of the use of any camp or facility, along with a certificate of insurance, and an approved copy will be returned as your authority to use the camp or facility.
  7. Smoking or tobacco use in any part of the Scout facilities or camp is prohibited, and alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are not permitted at any Scout facility or camp property.
  8. No portable equipment shall be taken from camp or facilities' premises.
  9. The application does not permit use of any machine, apparatus, equipment, or tools owned by the local council except as specified in the Application for Use of Council Property.
  10. Applicants shall confer with the appropriate Scout service center staff to obtain permission to bring materials to rented spaces. The local council assumes no responsibility for damage to property of others.
  11. All laws regarding public assemblies and local council rules and guidelines must be strictly followed
  12. Any camp or facility used by the applicant will be examined carefully after use, and the applicant agrees to leave the areas (s)he has used in clean condition, and promptly make good for any loss or damage occurring during the applicant's use of said area, normal wear and tear accepted.
  13. Any decorations, or equipment of the renter must be promptly removed from the facilities or camp after the rental so as not to interfere with the Scout or other activities. If there is a delay, the removal will be made by the local council at the expense of the renter.
  14. In the event of any dispute or controversy regarding the meaning of anything contained in these rental documents and/or Rules and Regulations, the decision of the Middle Tennessee Council will be final.
  15. In addition, the local council rules and guidelines must be strictly followed.

Reservations are required for camping at Boxwell Reservation. Reservations are needed as early as possible and should be completed three days prior arrival. Example camping on Friday, reservation needs to be made by Tuesday. 

Please contact the ranger on duty upon arrival at 615-945-1479.

Unit check-in and gate opening times for all camps are as follows:

Friday: Open - 3:00pm; Close - 10:00pm

Saturday: Open - 7:00am;  Close - 10:00pm

Sunday: Open - 7:00am; Close - 12:00pm (noon)

For access outside of the set hours you MUST contact the camp Ranger at 615-945-1479

Check in will be held at the Admin Building “Crab”

Trash Cans and Fire Barrells can be found behind the Maintenance area “compound” and must be returned after usage

If your troop wants to do a service project, please contact the ranger as they can provide you a project

Check Out Procedure Back to Top

For weekend camping Boxwell Reservation conducts check out on the HONOR SYSTEM. But will change that if it gets taken advantage of. If you have broken or damaged something, please call the rangers first at 615-945-1479

  • We expect your campsite to be cleaner when you leave than when you arrive, and fires extinguished completely, all trash cans and Fire Barrels must be returned behind the Maintenance area. If used rocks for a fire pit, please place them back.  Please return all picinic tables back to where you found them and return all wood back to the wooded area. 
  • All trash cleaned up out of camp and can be placed in the trash dumpsters located behind the Maintenance area “compound”. In the dumpsters
  • When leaving, please stop by the admin building and or call the Camp Ranger (615-945-1479) to let them know your group is exiting camp.

For Council or District events, your campsite will be checked by a member of the event staff to make sure you group can exit

If you group is using our facilities:

  • Dining Halls all trash is taken out to the dumpsters, all food is thrown out no food left in fridge. If food left in the fridge, a charge will be added. If there are items left needs to be discussed with the rangers before leaving. All tables and chairs must be stacked up and put up nicely, Floors need to be swept and mopped. Bathrooms need to be clean, and trash taken out.
  • High Adventure building all trash taken out, tables and chairs placed in closet, Fridge and kitchen cleaned, no food left in kitchen. Bathrooms cleaned and rooms cleaned and placed in good order.
  • Ferhmann Tanning Center, all trash taken out, Tables and chairs put up. Fridge and kitchen cleaned up no food left behind. Vacuum building if needed
  • Using the Shooting Ranges, all brass and spent cartridges must be picked up and thrown away. Trash must be taken off to the dumpster. Archery ranges must bring in targets and place under cover when finished.
  • Using the Aquatics areas, please make sure all paddles and watercrafts are put up either in the Aquatics center or on the racks provided. All PFDs must be hung up to dry before storing them.
  • Shelters must be free of all trash and picnic table placed back in.
