Camp Herms is located at 1100 James Place in El Cerrito. This camp serves as a year-round camp available for unit campouts and activities and is a host for council and district training courses and Cub Scout camps. It is situated atop the El Cerrito hills and can be used as the hub for visits to local historical sites, San Francisco and the surrounding area.
Camp Herms can be used in multiple ways for many different activities and events, making this facility one of our most used camps. The facilities include a meeting lodge with kitchen, campsites, and sleeping shelters. The upper rim sites give great views of San Francisco Bay if it is not too foggy.
If you are planning on having a campfire at Herms, you MUST get a fire permit. Please use the link provided here to get your permit. The instructions on the fire permit must be followed. You must bring your fire permit to Camp Herms with you. Spare the Air restrictions are strictly enforced.
The camp is also the base for the Fages Historic Trail, commemorating the trek by Captain Pedro Fages, who was searching for a land route around the San Francisco Bay in 1772.

In an effort to maintain the cleanliness of our properties, and to also enforce the ownership of "A Scout is Courteous and Clean", we will be enforcing a Cleaning Policy if an area in camp is:
- Used without being reserved
- Left in dissaray and not put pack in the correct manner
- Left with garbage or unclean
This will result in a charge of double your cost of the initial reservation. To avoid this from occuring, we advise you to check out with the Camp Ranger before your departure, to pack out all of your trash or place in the defined location as reported by the Camp Ranger, and maintain presence in the areas you reserved and not in areas you did not reserve.
