Policy & Regulations
The Long Beach Area Council is fortunate to own a square mile (640 acres) of pristine forest land in the Barton Flats area of the San Bernardino Mountains. Camp is located on Hwy 38 above Angelus Oaks. Since opening in 1959, Camp Tahquitz has served thousands of boys from greater Long Beach, Southern California, and beyond by making available the finest possible camping experience in an incomparable setting. At 6,500 feet elevation, the camp offers clean air and an agreeable climate amid rolling green meadows, thick forest of cedars, oaks and pines—including some of the world’s tallest Ponderosa Pine trees. Facility includes picnic areas, campsites, activity field, pool, campfire bowl and multi-purpose conference center with kitchen.

ALL SCOUTING GROUPS MUST FILE A FACILITY USE PERMIT prior to using the camp.
TAHQUITZ SCOUT CAMP POLICY AND REGULATIONS

**ALL GROUPS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THEIR OWN MEDICAL CARE, INCLUDING UNFORESEEN PROBLEMS SUCH AS BEE STINGS. IN AN EMERGENCY CONTACT RANGER RICK WHO WILL FACILITATE ACTIVATION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SYSTEM (9-1-1). IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT CAMP DIRECTOR MAKE THE CALL TO 9-1-1- BECAUSE BE WILL BE ABLE TO DIRECT RESPONDING RESOURCES TO EXACT LOCATION.
**ALL FOOT TRAFFIC CROSSING HIGHWAY 38 MUST USE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE.
AT NO TIME SHALL ANY EVENT OR ACTIVITY USE ANY PORTION OF HIGHWAY, INCLUDING SHOULDERS, FOR ANY REASON.
1 To hold the facility a deposit of (one half) of the total fees are due at time of booking. The balance is due, two (2) weeks before using the facility. In case of cancellation, fees already paid will be refunded @ 50% of the amount of the deposit. Refunds will not be given if cancellations are made within two (2) weeks of arrival date except in the case of adverse weather or the council closes the camp. In these instances we will either hold the monies for a future stay, or provide a full refund.
There is a mandatory security deposit for rental of the Scout Camp. The security deposit is refundable after (check-out) unless damage has occurred or the facility has been left in a condition that does not meet cleaning requirements.
Any non- Boy Scout group MUST sign a hold harmless agreement and provide the Long Beach Area Boy Scout Council with a certificate of insurance evidencing coverage in effect (including contractual liability, which will cover the hold harmless agreement). This certificate of insurance must state the limits of liability are at least $2,000,000 (two million) dollars combined single limit.
This certificate of insurance must be submitted to the Scout Service Center two (2) weeks prior to Facility use.
NO alcoholic beverages, chemical substances or fire arms of any kind are allowed at any Scout Camp. Violations will lead to confiscation and ejection of violators from the facility. If you must smoke, do so in your vehicle in the parking lot not in the campsites or cabins. Remember to take your butts home with you.
ALL groups are reminded to observe the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law at all times.
Groups MUST check in with the Camp Director upon arrival and at check out.
Groups MUST have adult (21 years of age) supervision, at all times. Scout policies require that each scout unit have 2 Deep-Leadership.
Pets ARE NOT allowed in camp at any time.
All wildlife, trees, barricades and traffic cones are to be left undisturbed.
Open fires are permitted in fire rings only if approved by Camp Director. Always practice fire safety. Propane and Butane are permitted in the park. All other liquid fuels are prohibited. Internal combustion generators WILL NOT be used in camp.
Groups are responsible for the cleanliness of restrooms. Problems, or the need for supplies, are to be reported to the Camp Director.
All trash is to be deposited in lined trash containers. Additional liners are available from the Camp Director. Before exiting the facility, deposit all trash in the dumpsters located at the designated areas.
All campers should remain within the boundaries of the camp. Some areas of the camp are restricted, for safety issues, and should not be entered.
The Scout Executive and/or his designee has the responsibility to request that any group not subscribing to the ideals and conduct acceptable to the Boy Scouts of America remove themselves from the Scout Camp.
16. Violations of any one of these Policies or Regulations will result in the loss of the security deposit.
Fishing in the lake is “Catch & Release” only, and ONLY with prior permission from Camp Director.
“No Parking” in campsite areas. Park FACING OUT, only in designated parking areas.
No event, ceremony, or other activity shall block access to roads or parking areas.
INFRACTIONS OF THESE REGULATIONS AND POLICIES CONSTITUTE TERMINATION OF THE
