Camp Oklawaha

Welcome to the unparalleled beauty and serenity of Scouting America Camp Oklawaha, a 60-acre gem nestled along the South Prong of the Sebastian River in Sebastian, Indian River County. Established in 1953 and graciously donated by Anna Vern Smith in loving memory of her husband Claude, this rustic haven has been the heart of scouting adventures for decades. Camp Oklawaha stands as the rustic, laid-back jewel of the Gulf Stream Council, offering a retreat into nature that echoes the laughter, camaraderie, and timeless spirit of scouting.

Set against the backdrop of a scrub oak flatland, our camp provides a canvas for a diverse range of activities that cater to the adventurous spirit of scouts. From the moment you arrive, you'll feel the embrace of the great outdoors – a place where the air is filled with the scent of pine, and the rustling leaves tell tales of countless scouting expeditions.

One of the highlights of Camp Oklawaha is it features a swimming area where you can take a nice dip and cool off from the Florida Heat or rent a canoe and a leisure paddle right into the river. The soothing sounds of nature serve as a backdrop to the camp's amphitheater, creating the perfect setting for gatherings, ceremonies, and the forging of lasting memories.

Our open-air main pavilion provides a central hub for activities, fostering a sense of community among scouts. It is a place where friendships are kindled, stories are shared, and the bonds of scouting brotherhood are strengthened. The archery and BB range, set amidst the natural landscape, offer opportunities for scouts to hone their marksmanship skills, while the chapel stands as a tranquil space for reflection and spiritual connection.

Camp Oklawaha prides itself on being the rustic, laid-back camp of the Gulf Stream Council, where the simplicity of nature intertwines seamlessly with the rich traditions of scouting. Here, beneath the sprawling canopy of stars, scouts gather around crackling campfires, sharing tales of adventure and building friendships that withstand the test of time.

As the sun sets over this idyllic landscape, Scouting America Camp Oklawaha invites you to join us in a celebration of the scouting spirit. Whether you're navigating the archery range, embarking on a canoe journey, or simply finding solace in the embrace of nature, every moment at Camp Oklawaha is a step towards self-discovery, leadership, and a lifelong appreciation for the great outdoors. Welcome to the rustic haven where adventure meets tradition – welcome to Scouting America Camp Oklawaha!
