Grinnell Scoutland

Is your Unit working on the Forestry merit badge?  Grinnell Scoutland is the ideal weekend camping location to complete this merit badge. With over 40 acres of hardwood timber with dozens of species of trees, your scouts will have fun and learn while exploring in these woods.

Located 2 miles southwest of Grinnell, Iowa, with easy access to I-80, Scoutland offers an enclosed shelter house with fireplace and electricity, an amphitheater for Saturday night skits, huge flag poles to practice your flag ceremony, an established axe yard, and a large parking area. Water is available nearby.

Campsites are also available free of charge. Campsites must be reserved. You choose your site the day you arrive.

Campsites are hike in/ hike out sites. Please carry out your trash with you. 

The activity field is included with the cabin rental and can only be used for a campsite if a cabin rental is made. 

Check In Procedure Back to Top

Check-in and check-out are done with the Campmaster. If a Campmaster is not available you will need to check out a key from Mid-Iowa Council office. Any questions will also go through the office.The Campmaster (if present) will accompany unit leaders to the facility for check-in. Check-in includes noting existing deficiencies and reviewing check-out procedures. The Campmaster (if present) will also brief the unit leaders and the Senior
Patrol Leader about safety concerns, location of potable water, location of garbage and recycle dumpsters.

The Campmaster will also provide a telephone number to call for assistance and get an approximate time for your departure. Strict check-out guidelines are followed for each facility to ensure a good experience for the next occupant.

Check Out Procedure Back to Top

Check-out is done with the Campmaster if available. If not available the unit is responsible for checking themselves out and returning the key to Mid-Iowa Council offices in a timely manure.

Cancellation Policy Back to Top

Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Cancellations will be accepted two (2) weeks prior to the reserved use date.
