This rustic cabin on Frankel Ridge has a spiral staircase using foot treads engraved with the 12 points of the Scout Law.
Located on historic Frankel Ridge in the Mitigwa Scout Reservation, Tew Cabin offers an A-frame architectural design with two levels of space, including a loft for sleeping and electricity for evening indoor activities. This is the nearest cabin to Fort Madison and the “WeCanDoIt” village. Just down the road is the Dan Beard Trail that can be accessed nearby.
This 2 level cabin sleeps 22 Scouts comfortably, with 10 beds and mattresses on the main floor and 10 – 12 more in loft. A wood burning stove is used for heating the cabin with plenty of wood stocked in the wood box.
Water is available nearby for cooking over the outdoor fire pit.
This cabin was named in honor of Mitigwa Lodge member Jerry Tew and was built in 1992 by Mitigwa Arrowmen, Explorer Post 106 and the local Carpenter’s Union.
