Camp Baker - Camp Baker Shelter

Notice: This facility is only available to members of the following unit types: Club, Crew, Jamboree, Lab, Member of, Post, Ship, Team, Troop

This facility is for reserving the use of the camp shelter. Please only reserve this space if it is necessary for your unit to perform their program for the weekend.

Camp Etiquette:

  • The objective is to have a great outdoor experience.
  • The campers are to leave the camp in better condition than when they arrive.
  • There is no hiking on Centerville Turnpike.
  • There is no swimming or wading at any time.
  • There is no cutting of live trees.
  • The property has no drinking water.
  • A shelter/pavilion is in site one. Please schedule use with other units in camp.
  • Latrines are between site 1 and site 2.
  • We are required to keep the gate closed each night and when leaving camp, please ensure this happens.
  • Know the boundaries of the camp and stay within them.
  • Ground fires are permitted; use established rings as much as possible.

Currently Sites 1, 2 and 3 are cleared to camp. You may not be the only troop in a site. Please be courteous to other troops at Camp Baker. It is a “first to arrive – first to choose an area in a site” policy.

You must contact the Camp Ranger prior to your scheduled dates to inquire about entering camp, locks, fire restrictions, etc. If someone arrives on the camp property and is not a Scout unit, contact the Camp Ranger so he can contact the Corp of Engineers.

If you need to cancel your reservation, call the Camp Ranger so the property can be secured properly.

Upon completion of your campout/ activity, please conduct a thorough review of your are to ensure now trash is inadvertently left behind. All camp fire areas must be cool to the touch. Please "pack out" all trash as there is no trash receptacles onsite.

Cancellation Policy Back to Top

Tidewater Council property reservations that are canceled in advance of 14 days prior to the reservation are transferable; otherwise you will receive a refund, minus a $20 cancellation fee, or the reservation fee, whichever is less. If the reservation is canceled within 14 days, no refund is given, but the reservation is transferable to another rental period within the calendar year.

Cleaning Policy Back to Top

All facilities and amenities must be left in as good if not better condition then when found. If facilities are not cleaned or amenities left in nonworking order, you will be assessed a cleaning or replacement fee.
