Massawepie Scout Camps - Keymel Lodge

Location: North Central Area

Comment: Keymel Lodge, 930 sq. ft., is a newly renovated updated cabin located 100 yards from Massawepie Lake in the Voyageur Camp area, across main road from the climbing wall. There are three bedrooms with a total of 15 bunks; rooms of 3, 4 and 8. There is one bathroom with a shower, kitchen, and living/dining room with a wood burning stove and a deck out front.

Water: Available year round inside the lodge.

Kitchen: Has a full size stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and sink. Some cookware and silverware, plates, bowls, cups etc. are provided. Anything considered essential you should bring.

Heat: The lodge is heated

Outdoor Fires: A large fire pit is located out in front of the lodge. Half-barrel grills are also available upon request.

Firewood: Is available for purchase.

Bathrooms: There is one bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink.

Bunks: There are three rooms (one sleeps 3, one sleeps 4 and one sleeps 8) totaling 15 bunks with mattresses in all.

Tables Chairs: Tables and chairs/benches are provided. There are two couches located in the main room by the fireplace.

Parking: There is a large lot directly next to the Gannett facility. Overflow parking is located a short distance down Massawepie Road.

Telephone: Cell phones get reception by the Camp office area down to the Ranger Shop and some coverage is availble at facility. The Camp Ranger can be contacted by sending someone to the shop or Ranger house located next to the shop.

Clean-up: Mops, brooms and cleaning supplies are provided. The facility should be cleaned as per the check-out sheet posted in Lodge.

Garbage & Recyclables: A dumpster is provided for trash located at the Warehouse by the entrance of camp.

Male-Female Accom: Separate sleeping areas are available.

Off Season Camp Reservation Refund Procedure

With a recognition that sometimes even the best-laid plans need to be adjusted and that financial resources for our units are precious, the following camp reservation refund procedure is in place for all non-summer camp facility reservations.Each reservation fee includes a 50% non-refundable deposit which will be forfeit upon cancelation. 

  • More than 60 Days until Reservation: A refund of 50% of fees paid will be issued.
  • Less than 60 Days until Reservation:  No refund will be provided unless the facility is booked by another group on the date of your reservation.

If the camp closes because of weather, units will be contacted by the camping team. If the camp closes a full refund or a full credit for a future reservation within the same calendar year will be made. 

The future reservation must be booked within two weeks of the time of cancellation.

All cancellations and rebooking must be done by speaking with our Camping and Program support staff by calling 585-241-8545. 

Cleaning Policy Back to Top

If excessive cleaning is required, the campmaster or ranger will communicate to your party prior to your departure. The group can remain on site and return the facility to a clean condition or the cleaning fee will be applied. If your group leaves prior to being checked out by the ranger or campmaster, a cleaning fee may be added if excessive cleaning is required. In Scouting, be sure to always leave your campround cleaner than how you found it.
