Tuscarora Scout Reservation - Winter Unit 5 Lean To 2

What is a lean-to? A lean-to is a 3-sided structure, open in the front.  It sleeps 8 people on four sets of bunks (with mattresses).  Also inside, is a small storage cabinet, some shelving, a picnic table, and a tinder/kindling box.  In front of the lean-to is a smaller table with dry firewood stacked underneath.  This table is still under the roof so rain/snow does not land on it.  Also in front is a stone fireplace, with cooking grate, and at some lean-to's, a steel "arm" to hold pots above the fire.  These are basically for cooking, and small campfires - they are not designed to heat the lean-to.

2.  Units using additional facilities beyond what is rented will be expected to pay for them.  Ranger is authorized to enforce this policy.  Exceptions might be possible depending on situation.

3.  PARKING POLICY - There is limited parking at all camping areas/units.  Camping unit parking limits:

All excess vehicles are to be parked in the main parking lot.

Note: Ranger has authority to alter this policy due to road/weather conditions

4.  Tent camping is discouraged in Winter Units especially in early spring or during periods of excessive rain.  Limited tenting in winter is permitted so long as the ground is solid.  Exceptions are; District/Council events, advancement requirements, or to satisfy a Youth Protection issue.  Tent camping is not a solution for not renting sufficient space for your unit.  Please address concerns with the Camp Ranger.

5.   Damages – Any damage to camp property/equipment will be billed to the unit/person(s) responsible for the damage(s).  Some buildings require a damage deposit.  Camp Ranger will mediate any/all damages.  Unit may opt to repair the damages; i.e. filling in ruts, etc.
