Sid Richardson Scout Ranch

Sid Richardson Scout Ranch (SR2) is a Texas–size camp with  15 miles of rugged shoreline on 10,000 acre Lake Bridgeport and 2,500 acres of scenic cliffs, prairie, and forests. The camp’s historic 1870’s U.S. Cavalry site is a centerpiece of the Chisholm Trail Adventure program at our Texas High Adventure Base.

Sid Richardson Scout Ranch (SR2) is a 2500 acre camp with over 15 miles of shoreline on Lake Bridgeport, northwest of Fort Worth and west of Denton. From downtown Fort Worth, it is approximately 60 miles to the camp gate taking I-35 north to Hwy 287, Hwy 287 to Decatur, and Hwy 380 from Decatur to to Runaway Bay. SR2 is 70 miles from DFW Airport.

If you are using a GPS or Google Maps to get to the camp the best address to enter is: “Sid Richardson Scout Ranch, Boy Scout Road, Runaway Bay, Texas” – that should get you to the front gate.

All units and events, including training courses, must check in with Camp Ranger or Campmaster.

Gates are open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 PM Friday and Saturday and 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 PM on Sunday. Some programs (climbing, COPE, shooting) may end later on Sundays.

Cancellation Policy Back to Top

Refund of fees, outside of a deposit, will be processed on a sliding scale according to the following guidelines:

Requests received 30 or more days before the event – you will receive 100% of the total event fee, less the non-refundable processing fee.

Requests received 15-29 days before the event – you will receive 50% of the total event fee, less the non-refundable processing fee.

Requests received within 14 days of the day of the event – No refund will be issued, except in the event of a documented medical reason (doctor’s note required), a death in the immediate family, or a natural disaster.

For events where you register as a unit, registrations are transferrable within the same unit to a Scout or adult leader not currently registered for the activity changes.

All units using Longhorn Council camps must follow Leave No Trace policies with camping.

All units are required to police and clean their areas before leaving camp.

All units must pack in pack out their trash when leaving camp. Dumpsters are for Camp Ranger use only.
